Technical Bulletin TB040

DIGI-WIFI/XA version 5.01

Effective Date: IMMEDIATE
Please Note: Intended for UK and EIRE markets

DIGI-WIFI/XA version 5.01 (for use on EURO 46):

Intermittent WIFI Connection on panel commissioning

Background

We have become aware of an issue, which affects a small percentage of the DIGI-WIFI/XA communicator for use primarily with the EURO 46.

Please note: the inbuilt WIFI on Enforcer V11 is NOT affected.
This only affects version 5.01 DIGI-WIFI/XA which has been on sale in Distribution since June. All other DIGI-WIFI/XA versions are unaffected.
 This does NOT affect DIGI-WIFI, DIGI-LAN, DIGI-GPRS, DIGI-GPRS+SIM.

The issue

The problem presents on initial install of the device. The symptoms experienced include:

  • When attempting to register the panel on the WIFI network, the device will not pair with the WIFI network.
  • In the event it does pair with the network, the connection is unstable, giving fluctuating readings from good signal strength to very low or no signal in WIFI Signal Strength diagnostics.
Given that this issue is present on initial installation and would be captured at that point, we do not have concerns for those DIGI-WIFI/XA’s installed after June which have not experienced this problem.

What we’re doing

We have taken the decision to recall stock from the distribution channels whilst we determine the root cause and implement the corrective action.

We are NOT issuing a field recall for installed products given that this is an out-of-the-box issue and would be captured on initial installation of the product.

What you need to do

If you have purchased a DIGI-WIFI/XA v5.01 which HAS NOT been installed yet (the version number can be found on the box label and on the physical product itself), please return this to your point of sale at your earliest convenience. These will be purchases AFTER June 2022.

NOTE: It’s important to reiterate, any DIGI-WIFI/XA v5.01 that are already installed and have not experienced this issue are not part of this recall or subject to this technical bulletin, given that the issue is seen on first installation.

What we’ll do to keep you updated

This Technical Bulletin will be updated to give you more information about our investigations and timescales for releasing product back into the distribution channels.

We understand the impact that this may cause and we want to apologise for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience whilst our teams continue to work to resolve this.
